Kampong Thom – PLCN Confiscates Tools in a Series of Forest Patrols:

PLCN members took action to prevent illegal logging activities. On October 18-20, eighteen PLCN members (all men) found seven migrant workers logging the forest illegally. The workers thumb printed and signed a document promising that they would stop clearing land. One chainsaw was confiscated.
On October 25-27, sixteen PLCN members (all men) conducted a forest patrol in the north of Prey Lang. One chainsaw was confiscated, however the illegal loggers fled the scene. On Oct 27, the patrollers presented the chainsaw to Sandan District Forest Administration to take further action, documented and signed the handover agreement with PLCN members.
On October 29, eighteen PLCN members, including two Sandan Commune police officers, patrolled the Prey Takoy area. The group discovered illegally logged timber and one chainsaw. Only the chainsaw was confiscated and handed over to the Forestry Administration. The loggers left the scene.
