Prey Lang Festival Celebration
March 5, 2013 | Posted in: News
On 6, 7 and 8 March, the Prey Lang Community Network and Prey Lang inhabitants are hosting a Prey Lang Festival.
The festival will take place at Veal Lend area which is in the centre of Prey Lang forest, connecting all four provinces within the forest: Stung Treng, Kompong Thom, Kratie, and Preah Vihear.
The festival aims to draw national and international attention to current issues affecting Prey Lang forest, and its people. It is also to commemorate and pray for activists who have lost their lives in the fight for Prey Lang.
At 4pm on Thursday 6 March, there will be a greeting for all guests attending the festival, followed by a blessing from monks at 6pm. At 8am on Friday 7 March, the Prey Lang community will give gifts to monks and there will be a traditional ceremony to bless the forest.
A two day conference will then take place over the 7 and 8 March. There will be 500 participants from all four Prey Lang provinces, Prey Lang Network members and NGOs.
We would like to invite everyone to join the Prey Lang Festival and support our cause to save Prey Lang forest!
