On November 27, 49 PLCN members (5 women) were joined by CPN members and began a four day patrol of Phnom Koun Mae Mountain where they found and confiscated four chainsaws and six cubic meters of illegally logged timber. The chainsaws are being stored at Kampong Cham commune office awaiting transfer to the provincial forestry administration on December 6.
Patrollers also asked a representative of Think Biotech Company to show the company’s license to fell trees in a 34,007-hectare area. The company representative responded that patrollers should direct their request to the Forestry Administration Department, which has apparently granted the company permission. PLCN will ask to see the approved documents when they visit the provincial FA office on December 6 to deliver the previously confiscated chainsaws.
