On 22 April, PLCN bringing together 54 members (13 women) members from the four Prey Lang provinces of Kratie, Stung Treng, Kampong Thom and Preah Vihear to discuss ways to spend the award money granted last year by the Alexander Soros Foundation. The meeting was held in Phnom Penh.

PLCN decided to divide the award among the four provinces, and each will receive $6,250. Each province will create a bank account and deposit the money, using the interest earned to fund activities to protect the forest, such as patrols. The money will also be used to provide loans to PLCN members in need. In June, further discussions will be held about who will manage the bank accounts and the conditions for future loans. CPN-CDPS will support those discussions.

On 23 April, PLCN met with donors and NGO partners in order to present the network’s five-year plan and ask for support.
PLCN expressed its appreciation for donor and NGO assistance, underscoring that it expected supporters to respect PLCN’s plans and policies, and to provide assistance in that context. As one example of the need to harmonize assistance, PLCN identified per diem support (which various donors provide at different rates) as a matter to be addressed.
